Great Disney World Attractions for Toddlers

One question that I have heard countless times is, “Are there any good rides for toddlers?”  I can honestly say that we have explored this through the eyes of my children, ages five and two.  Our five year old has been going to Disney World since he was sixteen months old.  You would be surprised how much both of them have loved going to Disney World.  Both of them talk about going almost everyday until we are able to go back.
In the last five trips to Disney World I cannot think of one trip that the kids did not have plenty to do. Here is a list of rides that most toddlers will be able to enjoy. Of course, you know your little one better than anyone. There are a few that although a toddler is physically able to ride, they may not do well on the ride. This is where your expertise with your child will be most important. For example, my son loved The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, but my daughter did not like it because it was dark and bumpy.

Riding It’s A Small World

Toddler Friendly Rides and Attractions:
Magic Kingdom:
– It’s A Small World
– Peter Pan
– Jungle Cruise
– Dumbo the Flying Elephant
– Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
– Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid
– Walt Disney World Rail Road
– Haunted Mansion
– The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
– Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
– Enchanted Tales with Belle
– Mickey’s PhilharMagic
– Character Meets
– The Barnstormer (There is a height requirement (35 in.). This is a beginner’s roller coaster.)
The Magic Kingdom is well known as being the best park for the little ones. Even beyond this list, there are other attractions and rides that may have height requirements or still be a good fit for your little one.
Epcot:
– Spaceship Earth
– Turtle Talk with Crush
– The Seas with Nemo and Friends
– Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros
– Journey Into Imagination with Figment
– Living with the Land
– Kidcot Fun Stops
– Character Meets
Epcot is known to be more suited for the adults, with the beauty of the countries, the food, and the peaceful stroll along the lagoon. However, with the Kidcot Fun Stops, the kids have something fun to do too. Every country has a craft stop for the kids that gives them a sense of adventure as your family explores the World Showcase.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios:
– Character Meets
– The Great Movie Ride
– Disney Junior – Live on Stage!
– Star Wars Launch Bay
– For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-A-Long Celebration
– Jedi Training
– Voyage of the Little Mermaid
– Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage
– Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure
– Toy Story Mania (currently closed for refurbishments)
This park is having some major renovations. As I write this, the attractions that I have listed are all open. Check the My Disney Experience app for more information when you get closer to your trip. The character meet and greets at this park are great! This park is a favorite for our kids, as they are huge Disney Junior fans. The Star Wars characters and some of the Disney Junior characters are only available for meet and greets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Animal Kingdom:
– Kilimanjaro Safaris
– Fossil Fun Games
– Festival of the Lion King
– Finding Nemo – The Musical
– Character Meets
While the list is shorter, our kids really enjoy this park as well. The Kilimanjaro Safaris never disappoint. The animals that are visible on this ride are incredible, and they seem to be much “happier” than at a typical zoo setting. The shows here are amazing as well. The show It’s Tough to Be a Bug is not on my list for preschoolers because of the special effects that make it seem that bugs are a little too close for comfort. Our kids were scared during this show. Some of the character meets can only be found at this park. For example, Russell and Doug from the movie Up are available only at the Animal Kingdom.
I know that you will find even more that your little ones are excited about at Disney. Enjoy exploring as you see Disney through their eyes.
